Who is the Early Years Workforce?

It's our ambition that everyone who works with expectant mums, and 0-4 year olds in Blackpool becomes part of Better Start.  We will support colleagues during this period of systems transformation through training opportunities and resources.

Our second annual Learning Event: Implementing Evidence Based Interventions, will be chaired by Anne Longfield, OBE the Children's Commissioner for England. The event will be held on Tuesday 15th November 2016 at the Hilton, Blackpool.

This full day event will feature presentations and workshops by international experts in early years and themes including Diet and Nutrition, Speech and Language, and Social and Emotional Wellbeing.

Our inaugural Learning Event was held on 20th October 2015 at the Hilton Hotel, Blackpool and attended by 397 early years professionals.

Delegate feedback was extremely positive. Key highlights include:

  • Over 90% of respondents agreed or strongly agreed that most presenters provided information that was relevant and applicable to their workplace.
  • Almost 75% of attendees directly represented the frontline early years workforce.
  • 97.9% of respondents would both recommend the conference to a colleague, and would attend other Better Start events.
