Tooth decay is the most common oral disease affecting children and young people in England, yet it is largely preventable! Poor oral health can affect children and young people's ability to sleep, eat, speak, play and socialise with other children. Whilst there have been improvements in the oral health of children in England, significant inequalities remain. Public Health England has published 'Improving Oral Health: A Toolkit to Support Commissioning of Supervised Toothbrushing Programmes in Early Years and School Settings to support the commissioners and providers of supervised toothbrushing programmes that are evidence informed, safe and have clear accountability and reporting arrangements.
